When a buyer asks an AI who to call, does it name you?

Buyers ask ChatGPT and Perplexity who to call, not only Google. We check what those assistants say about your industry, then fix your site so they cite you.

Ask the assistants what a buyer would ask.

A made-up firm, three assistants and the questions its buyers type. Press play to see which answers name the firm and what needs fixing.

Example output: AI search check

Your AI asks three assistants the questions a buyer would ask, marks each answer cited, mentioned or missing, then lists what to fix. The firm and every answer are made up.

Read what happens

Example output. Every firm and answer here is made up. Reading the site for Kestrel Risk Advisory, a made-up POPIA audit firm Asked Perplexity: "Who does POPIA audits for logistics firms in South Africa?" Missing. Named Lanternwell Audit Partners and Brightfield Risk, with links to both. Kestrel is not in the answer. Asked ChatGPT: "Which South African firms help freight companies get ready for a POPIA audit?" Mentioned. Kestrel is named in a list of four, with no link and no reason given. Asked Gemini: "Who should a logistics company hire to audit its POPIA compliance?" Cited. Links to Kestrel's POPIA audit page and quotes its first paragraph. Checking why the other two answers left Kestrel out Fix: No llms.txt file, so assistants have no short summary of what Kestrel does. Fix: An AI crawler is blocked in robots.txt, so one assistant can't read the site at all. Fix: The POPIA audit page has no FAQ markup, so the questions it answers are not machine-readable. Fix: The direct answer sits below three paragraphs of marketing copy. Four fixes, written up as a pull request for the client to approve. Then the same three questions are asked again and the answers set side by side.

What we check

An assistant can only cite what it can reach, read and trust.

Crawler access

Whether the AI crawlers can read your site at all, or your robots.txt and firewall turn them away.

Direct answers

Whether each page answers the buyer's question in its first paragraph, or buries it under marketing copy.

Structured data

Whether your pages carry the FAQ and Service markup that tells a machine what you sell, and whether your Organization details are filled in.

Who else mentions you

Whether the sites the assistants trust, such as directories, trade bodies and news sites, mention you.

What we fix

The fixes are changes to your own site, made where you can see them.

Fixes arrive as a pull request

Each change to your site is written up so you can read exactly what moves: a robots.txt line, a new FAQ block, a rewritten opening paragraph.

You approve it

Nothing changes on your site until you say so. Your developer can review the same pull request.

Then we ask again

We re-run the same buyer questions and show you the answers before and after. Answers vary from run to run, so we show the trend over repeated runs, not one lucky result.

Your AI keeps asking after we leave

Your own AI operating system re-asks those buyer questions every week. If a competitor starts being named where you used to be, it flags it, so you hear about it early. See what your own AI operating system does.

AI search visibility: questions owners ask

Is this SEO?

Yes and no. AI answers lean on pages that already rank and are easy to read, so ordinary SEO still matters. On top of that we check things search engines never asked for: whether AI crawlers can get in, whether a page answers the question in its first paragraph, and whether the sites the assistants trust mention you.

How long until ChatGPT picks it up?

We can't give you a date. It depends on when each assistant next recrawls your site. Perplexity searches the live web when it answers, so changes can show up there sooner. The training data behind a model such as ChatGPT updates slowly, and we don't control when.

Can you guarantee a citation?

No, and nobody honest can. Answers change from run to run, even for the same question. So we ask each question many times, and show you the trend across those runs rather than one lucky or unlucky answer.

Which assistants do you check?

ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Claude and Copilot. If your buyers use another one, tell us and we add it.
